Are Your Sins Forgiven?

Are Your Sins Forgiven?

When most folks are asked if God will save them at the end of their life, they answer with a confident: “YES, I can’t imagine that God would have anything against me.” But the truth is, a person’s salvation depends on the answer to the question: “Are Your Sins Forgiven?”

Some may wonder if they have sinned. There is no doubt that you have sinned even if you don’t see it, God does. And what He sees is all that matters.

Romans 3:23 (NASB)
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Isaiah 59:2 (NASB)

2 But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.

What
is sin? The word sin comes from a Greek word which means to miss the mark. It is an archery term which refers to an arrow that does not hit the target. The target of our lives is to live up to the standard set in God’s word. If we fall short of that standard we have missed the mark which means we have sinned. We do not have to look far to see what we have done:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NASB)
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,
10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Galatians 5:19-21 (NASB)
19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality,
20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions,
21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you just as I have forewarned you that those who practice
such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Have you missed the mark that God’s word set for you? We all have sinned. God provided a way for sinners to be forgiven when his sinless son poured out his blood in our behalf. This is God’s gift to all that believe and obey the Gospel.

Mark 16:15-16 (NASB)
15 And He said to them, " Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
16 "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be
saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.

Ephesians 1:7 (NASB)
7  In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

Acts 2:38 (NASB)
38 And Peter said to them, "Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
